WITH highs of 21 degrees touted for the weekend, hopefully we may get a summer yet.

And in the case of roaring sunshine or even torrential downpours, we've created a list to keep you entertained over the weekend.

1. Hardwicke Circus, Old Fire Station, July 8
From the stages of Glastonbury to the Old Fire Station, Carlisle's own will undoubtedly bring an energetic performance in their hometown - if they merit Paul McCartney's approval, you can be sure they deserve it.

2. Hadrian Wall Choral Festival, Carlisle Cathedral, July 9
Hosting the choirs of Newcastle Cathedral and Hexham Abbey to join with the city's own Cathedral Choirs in celebrating the musical life of these great churches joined in fellowship along Hadrian's Wall.

3. Music of George Michael, Old Fire Station, July 9 
Perfect weekend activity if you're looking for someone to wake you up before you go-go, a gig perfectly manned by the multi-award-winning singer Robert Taylor. 

4. Visiting Hour, Carlisle Green Room, July 5-9 
Five interlinked plays set in a National Health hospital during visiting hour. Alternately funny and sad – with elements of tragedy and comedy in each brought to you by director David Wood. 

5. The Phantom of the Opera, The Sands Centre, July 8 - 9 
You'll be dying of love if you catch the spectacular performance brought to you by Cumbria’s premier and award winning youth theatre group, StagedRight Youth Theatre. 

6. mylittlebrother + Special guests, The Source Collective, July 9 
Mylittlebrother, the harmony-filled, melodic indie-rock band from deepest Cumbria, headline The Source for a night that will be cram-packed with influences from America's west coast. 

7.  Grab a cone!

8. Tullie Art Group, Tullie House, July 8 
Join the museum for a laid-back art session and opportunity to meet like-minded people under the guidance of an experienced artist.

9. Soak up the sun at Bitt's Park 
It could be the perfect opportunity for a picnic in the lovely Bitt's Park - which is always be perfectly complimented with a visit to Tribe. 

10. Author's talk, Bookend's Cakes and Ale Cafe, July 8 & 13
On July 8, Martyn Halsall will be discussing ‘Visible Music’, his collection of poems reflecting on life with cancer and on July 13, author Neil Curry will be discussing his latest book Samuel Johnson Writer, a refreshing reassessment of the English writer and his professional career.
