CUMBRIA POLICE ANPR cameras are out and about in Penrith, Kendal and monitoring the M6 today (Monday July 4).
Traffic Police will be closely monitoring the M6 and A689 as they lookout for speeding motorists and drivers who flout road safety.
A spokesman said: "Today our Road Safety Camera vans will be operating on the A6 between Penrith & Kendal, the A689 between Tebay & Brough and the M6 J40 to J37.
Cumbria County Council have also warned motorists that roadworks are taking place at Ashness Bridge Pier, Keswick and two-way traffic signals are in place on the B5289.

This will allow our contractor to deliver and unloaded repair materials onto the shoreline.

Other roadworks include:
• A74(M), from 9pm June 25 to 9pm July 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 43 to 45, Lane three closures for barrier inspections, Grasscutting/safety fence/drainage works.
• M6, from 8pm March 6 to 6pm July 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 42, Lane closure and closure of slip roads for lighting renewal.
