A MAN was stretchered from England's highest mountain after sustaining a painful knee injury.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team were called out at 4.15pm on Saturday when a walker was struggling to walk off Scafell Pike after sustaining a painful knee injury.
He tried to continue to walk down but could not carry on.
A spokesman for the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Tean said: "We are grateful once again to our friends from Duddon and Furness MRT who assisted us with the stretcher carry from the Hollowstones area.
"Once safely down to Brackenclose he made his own way out of the valley with advice to get further medical checks at hospital.
"We wish him a speedy recovery."
