THE former shop of a now convicted paedophile has been targeted by vandals.
Obscenities were scrawled across the front door of the former 'Temptations' antiques shop on Queen Street, run by William Kirkbride, who is in jail after being convicted of a child sex offence.
The graffiti, which is understood to have alluded to Kirkbride’s conviction, has now been removed, but can be seen faintly on the shop’s front door.
The antiques and collectibles shop has been closed since Kirkbride was jailed, with the sign removed from outside and the contents of the shop emptied.
Kirkbride was sentenced to 28 months in prison on June 11, following an undercover police operation.
The former councillor had send explicit messages to an undercover police officer, who he believed to be a 14-year-old boy.
He had then arranged to meet the teenager at Whitehaven train station, but police were waiting for him.
