Peter McCall comments: "Being accepted, especially in some of our more rural areas of Cumbria, is seen as more difficult, due to its less diverse environment.

"Being individual and being able to identify as who you are, is not as easy for some. Events such as this allows everyone to be who they want to be, without fear of prejudice.

"As well as LGBTQ information from local Police officers, members of my Office and specialist support services, the day has something for everyone of all ages, local emergency services and health advice,  live entertainment, stalls and children’s entertainment."

PC Adrian Tyson, Chair Cumbria Police Pride Network added: "Silloth pride is a great day for LGBTQ+ communities, friends and families to comes together and celebrate how far we have come in society and the workplace.

"Pride is not defined to one day; it’s celebrated every day in many different ways, and we need to keep raising awareness, so the great work that has been achieved, keeps momentum."
