CARLISLE MP John Stevenson has released a statement following the confidence vote in Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
MPs voted 211 in favour of the PM and 148 against so Johnson will not be ousted from his role.
MP John Stevenson has said he ‘accepts’ the result but the Prime Minister must change the functionality of the government if he is to get the party back on board.
In his statement, John Stevenson said: "The PM has won the vote of confidence.
"I accept the result. I am also sure that the PM recognises that a very significant number of Conservative MPs including myself have expressed our concerns.
"I believe that he has to change the way his government functions and reach out to the party.
"He has a window of opportunity to do this and I very much hope he takes this opportunity,” he said.
