GOSFORTH and Seascale Primary schools and Beckermet Brownies teamed up with the iconic Ravenglass and Eskdale railway to celebrate the Jubilee.

The schools worked alongside the railway and created royal themed bunting to be placed in the museum.

Claire Winter-Moore, from the railway explained where the idea started:

“We decided that we would really like to decorate the museum for the Platinum Jubilee and create a festive atmosphere for our visitors."

"Of course, one of the main aims of the jubilee celebrations was to bring create a positive community spirit and we thought that involving local children as well as visitors to the museum in creating our bunting display, was the perfect way to do this."

Both Gosforth and Seascale primary schools were keen to incorporate the creation of the bunting panels into their Platinum Jubilee activities at school, as were Beckermet Brownies.

Claire went on to say: "All the children got involved in creating their own designs which we were proud to display.

"The end result has really captured the jubilee spirit felt throughout the country."

"We plan to keep the bunting in the museum so it will be a permanent memory of this unique and special occasion."

"And who knows, in years to come, it could be brought out again for future royal celebrations .”
