A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "If you’re thinking of investing in crypto it is important not to rely on personal testimonies or celebrity endorsements as they could be fake.
"Most cryptocurrencies aren’t regulated by the FCA which means they’re not protected by the UK’s Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
"It’s important that you do your research and proceed with caution before making investments. Stop and think before parting with your money or information."
