An NHS trust has thanked its volunteers for Volunteer’s Week.

Volunteers’ Week takes place every year from June 1-7, and is a chance for everyone to recognise the contributions of volunteers made to their communities.

It is supported and celebrated by small and large organisations, from local groups to household name charities, and activities are run across the nation.

It is described on the official Volunteers’ Week website as ‘a time to say thanks.’

A description of the week on the website reads: “It goes without saying that volunteers have played a key role in the pandemic response.

“During an exceptionally difficult couple of years, people from all walks of life around the UK have taken the time to volunteer and make a huge difference to their communities – just as they do every year.

“This is a time for us to come together and thank all volunteers for their invaluable contribution.

“This 38th annual Volunteers’ Week is taking place during the Month of Community.

“Running throughout June, Month of Community brings together organisations with a range of events in order to encourage us all to think about and join in with activities happening in our local communities.”

Wendy Spratt, voluntary services manager at Cumberland, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) said: “The team and I would like to extend a huge thank you to all our volunteers for their patience and support.

“We look forward to seeing more of you return, as well as new recruits across our services real soon."
