Alston Recreational Ground has been given £3,000 in funding.

This is part of a total of £800,000 that was provided by Cumbria Community Foundation, a charity dedicated to meeting community need by grant aiding community and voluntary organisations in Cumbria.

It was launched in 1999 and has given out more than £56million in grant aid.

It is an award-winning charity dedicated to improving community life by making grants to local charities.

More than 40 community organisations received a share of £793,000 and 14 people benefited from £11,270 to increase sporting, artistic and career achievement.

The money was awarded at Cumbria Community Foundation’s recent grants committee from funds set up by local people and businesses, including Thomas Graham & Sons and Shepley Group.

Alston Recreational Ground previously applied for finding from the National Lottery which they said was to put a cycling pump track in the town in March 2022.

The deadline for the next round of applications is June 17, 2022.
