A REPEAT Carlisle shoplifter who assaulted security staff at a city centre store is to be sentenced by a crown court judge.

Dale Thomas Graham, 38, had originally denied the common assault on a security worker from Carlisle’s House of Fraser store but he changed his plea to guilty on the day he was due to stand trial.

At Carlisle’s Rickergate court, the defendant, of Charlotte Street, admitted a four offences. They were:

  • Assaulting the male security worker on November 28 last year.
  • Stealing J’Adore EDD and Savage perfume worth £216 from House of Fraser on the same occasion.
  • The theft of the same brand perfume – valued at £232 -  from the same store on November 9.
  • And on the same day, stealing perfume of unknown value from Sainsbury’s in Carlisle.

Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for sentencing and remanded the defendant in custody in the meantime. The defendant will be sentenced at the city's crown court on June 9.
