A PENRITH man must pay compensation to a woman he assaulted.
At Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court, David Wildman, 39, whose address was given as Mill Street, admitted an assault by beating on the woman on March 14 in the street where he lives.
Magistrates imposed a community order, with £50 compensation for the victim, his former partner, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
The sentence includes an order that Wildman participates in a “Building Better Relationships” programme and up to 15 days of Probation Service directed activity.
The defendant, who was not present in court when sentence was announced, must also complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
* Due an error on official court records, this defendant's surname was originally reported as being Wildam. This has now been corrected.
