MARATHON Man Gary Mckee has encouraged people to come out and join him as he continues his epic 365 marathons in 365 days challenge.

The Cleator Moor athlete is running the challenge with the aim of raising £1 million for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Since beginning the challenge, Gary said that 150,000 people in the UK have been diagnosed with cancer, with the marathon man saying that's "150,000 reasons to keep on going."

Speaking to the Whitehaven news in his latest diary update, Gary said: "Onto week 21 and I’ve had more support runners and riders joining me. It’s great to see new faces and it feels good knowing you’re inspiring people to get out running.

"The cycle path is really busy at the moment with C2C cyclists and walkers and people making the most of the weather. The guys at Sustrans who maintain the cycle path do a really good job of making it look good.

"People often ask if I never get sick of running the same route and the answer is no because the path changes all the time and has got so much to offer. People also know where I’m at at any time if they want to join me.

"Every day that I’ve ran Beau and Minnie have also done something. Beau has now cycled 26 full marathons and Minnie 10 and when they’re not joining me they do 10 (Beau) and 7 (Minnie) miles on the exercise bike every day. I’m really proud of them supporting me in the way they they do.

"So day 150 on Monday and by the end of May I’ll have ran 4000 miles. The sad thing is that 150 000 in the UK people have been diagnosed with cancer since I started running. That’s 150 000 reasons to keep going."
