AN EDEN Valley motorist has been jailed after he admitted a drink driving offence following an accident.
Barry Omahony, 46, committed the offence on November 30 last year while driving a Citroen C3 at Beacon Edge in Penrith, Carlisle’s Rickergate court was told. At the time, he had 126mcg of alcohol in ever 100mls of blood.
The legal limit for driving is 80mcg.
Explaining their sentence, magistrates said the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified. They also noted the high alcohol reading and the fact that an accident was caused by the defendant.
Omahony, of Church Lane, Great Salkeld, was given a 31 month ban and must pay costs of £85 and a £128 victim surcharge.
