FAILING to provide a blood specimen to the police when he was suspected of an offence has landed a Dalston motorist with a ban and unpaid work.

Shane Hope, 31, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court. It happened on Saturday, April 30 after the defendant was stopped by police in Carlisle.

Magistrates imposed a 32-month ban, with 180 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12-month community order. The defendant, of Riverside, Dalston, must pay £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

Court records do not state what driving offence was suspected.
