Carlisle has a wealth on offer for all this weekend, from days steeped in history to musical throwbacks, there's plenty on offer for everyone. 

Here's our top ten: 

1. 40th anniversary of the Falklands Conflict, May 14. 

Join 100 Falklands veterans from Cumbria and further afield as they will be marching to the Cenotaph at 1pm, and then attending a Service of Remembrance at St Cuthbert's Church from 2pm.

2. Hometowns tour: The Source May, 18

Three singer-songwriters will be making a stop at The Source, a bill featuring local headliner Melanie Baker, Liverpool-based Thom Morecroft, London-hailing Gigi and Macclesfield-born troubadour Joel Gardner. 

3. One For The Road - Carlisle’s Green Room May, 16-21

Bringing Liverpudlian playwright, Willy Russel’s working class depiction featuring Dennis, on the eve of his 40th birthday, wanting to escape the constraints of suburbia is set to be a night of laughs and will see return of director and acting graduate Jason Munn to the West Walls Theatre. 

4. The One Night with Elvis - Sands Centre on Saturday, May 14 

It's time to shake, rattle and roll as Europe's most successful Elvis Presley tribute, Lee Memphis King, graces the Sands Centre with his show that's been touring for the past 10 years. 

5. Carlisle's History of Bathing - Cake's n Ale May 13

As part of the Hadrian1900 Festival, the talk will trace the history of bathing in Carlisle from its Roman Bathhouses, to fashionable Victorian Turkish Baths, through to the current revival in cold water swimming. All proceeds raised will go to preserve Carlisle's Turkish Baths. 

6. Houghton Village Hall Farmers' Market - May 14 

The perfect spot to get your hands on some local fresh produce, with the event running from 9am - 1pm. 

7. Dirty Dancing In Concert - Sands Centre, May 15

Well, it's time for you to have the time of your life, because you owe it all to you. Catch the hit film in a unique and unforgettable way as a complete screening of the digitally remastered film will play as a band and singers perform the songs live, in sync with the film.

8. Curious about Carlisle
