BOMBARDING a woman with more than 100 unwanted calls in three days has earned a Carlisle mana hefty court bill and a conviction.

Jamie Ramdin, 21, pleaded guilty to an allegation of harassment without violence when he appeared before magistrates at the city’s Rickergate court. He was fined £576, with £85 costs and a £57 victim surcharge.

The charge stated that the defendant, of Greystone Road, Carlisle, committed the offence in the second week of November last year.

He knew, or ought to to have known, that his “unwanted” calls to a named woman amounted to harassment. Magistrates did not order any compensation for the victim of the offence.
