A VISITOR to Carlisle who was caught with an illegal lock-knife outside the city’s Citadel Railway Station has been jailed.

Nicholas Alexander Johns, 32, was arrested on November 6 last year and found to be carrying the knife without a good or lawful reason, Carlisle’s Rickergate court was told. He admitted the offence.

He also accepted that the offence put him in breach of a suspended sentence imposed by Barrow Magistrates’ Court on September 1, 2020, for an offence of failing to provide a breath specimen when required to by police.

This happened in Kendal.

The defendant was further in breach of a suspended sentence order imposed by Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for drug driving.

The order also related to the defendant’s conviction for stealing wine at Tebay in July, 2020 and further drug driving offences, one involving the drug diazepam.

The defendant, of South Bank Avenue, Blackpool, was jailed for 26 weeks. When released, he must pay a £128 victim surcharge.
