A NORTH Cumbrian man who made nuisance phone calls and damaged a police vehicle has been jailed.

Adam Harrison, 40, of Fellview, Milton, near Brampton, appeared at Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to the following three offences:

  • On March 29, at Carlisle, he persistently made use of the public communications network for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, and needless anxiety to another.
  • On the same day, he caused £100 worth of damage to a Cumbria police vehicle.
  • And, again on March 29, he breached a community order which had been made just four days before his offending.

The court heard that the earlier offence for which the order was imposed also involved Harrison damaging a marked police vehicle and for persistently using the communications network to cause annoyance and anxiety.

He did that on March 23. He was at that time also subject to a conditional discharge for being drunk and disorderly on January 15. The defendant was jailed for a total of 14 weeks. When released, Harrison must pay Cumbria Police £100 compensation.

The defendant was represented by defence lawyer Mark Shepherd.
