A WIGTON area man is facing a Carlisle Crown Court trial after he was accused of three sexual offences, including a charge of voyeurism.

During a hearing at the city’s Rickergate court, Gary Paul Faunch, 52, of Mealsgate, Wigton, entered not guilty pleas to the following three allegations:

  • On May 1, that he observed a person doing a private act…for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, knowing that the person did not consent to being observed for your sexual gratification.
  • On April 10, that he knowingly or recklessly trespassed on premises with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence on those premises.
  • On May 1, that he knowingly or recklessly trespassed on premises with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence on those premises.

Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on May 30. In the meantime, the defendant was granted bail on condition that he does not approach the property where the alleged offence took place.

Nor can he contact any prosecution witness in the case. Magistrates also imposed a night-time curfew as an additional condition of bail.

The identity of the victim is protected by the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992.
