MORE than 800 homes in the Maryport area are experiencing power interruptions this morning (Tuesday May 3).

Electricity Northwest said the incident was first reported at 8.08am but many houses, including in the Flimby area have been experiencing outages throughout the night.

A total of 853 properties are experiencing the power interruptions which have been caused by "an unexpected incident on the high voltage cable."

Electricity Northwest say they expect that full power to Maryport should be restored by 11am today.
