A popular car boot sale will be returning after prior success.

The sale that will take place in Lanercost comes after a successful and busy car boot sale the year before.

Coming to the Dacre Hall, the committee has arranged for a spring car boot sale in the garth outside Lanercost Priory, within which is Dacre Hall.

Elizabeth Hardin, who is a member of the Dacre Hall committee, said: "With spring being a traditional time to clean and clear, this is a great opportunity to recycle and upcycle.

"This is such a beautiful venue for our Car Boot Sale, so get clearing and booking."

All proceeds from the event will go towards the upkeep of the Dacre Hall, which is the oldest village hall in the country and a beautiful Grade 1 listed building.

Dacre Hall has some of the most important surviving examples of mid 16th-century wall painting, although only traces in part and the hall itself is part of what was originally a single long room where the Dacre family would have entertained in style.

The car boot sale will begin on Saturday, May 7, at 10:00 am, finishing at 1:00 pm.

Pre booked tables are £8 or on the day £10 with an admission of £1.
