A venue rich in Cumbrian history will be hosting a pair of events later next month.

Netherby Hall, which is near Longtown, will be hosting a jazz concert event where visitors will also be treated to a three course meal.

The organisers invite people to enjoy an evening of jazz with Georgia Cecile and Stephen Duffy, supported by the Euan Stevenson Trio.

Food will be served in the Oak Hall.

Georgia Cecile is the Scottish Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2021, and Stephen Duffy is the BBC's Voice of Jazz in Scotland, a title he has held for over a decade.

This event will be held on May 20, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with tickets costing £50 and available to purchase by clicking here.

Being a venue in the far north of the county, bridging the gap between Scotland and England comes naturally to Netherby Hall, and ties into their other event that will take place the following two days.

The Spring Fair comes after the success of their annual Christmas Craft Fair over the past few years, and this year the Hall will be opening the doors for its inaugural Spring Fair.

A spokeswoman from Netherby Hall said: "We look forward to creating a stand-out calendar event celebrating local craft businesses, artists, and food vendors, spanning the North-South divide – just like our location.

"Held over two days, our Spring Fair is free entry and free parking.

"We welcome you to join us to browse and shop a variety of stalls, meet the beautiful independent businesses, local movers and shakers, and all-round lovely people that shape this event, enjoy good food and explore the Walled Gardens and grounds."

Netherby Hall is centred around a 16th-century Pele tower and has been developed with later additions in the 17th 18th and 19th centuries as well.

It is built on the site of a Roman fort which is known as 'Castra Exploratorium' and, according to the Hall's website, it is believed that some sections of the house have been built using some of the fort's stones.

The stately house stands in 36 acres of parklands with lawns, a Victorian pleasure garden, and a walled garden covering just over an acre.
