Harrison also took part in two demos, using his trusty camping stove.

He was joined by Victor Nwosu from Wiga Wagaa, who sells a feisty range of chilli products, and Wigton’s own John Crouch, who served a three-course feast of lentil and nettle soup, salad and a honey omelette.

There was also a talk from Wigton-based photographer and author Trevor Grahamslaw who was showcasing some of his work from several decades in the print business.

Event manager Ellie Jones of Allerdale Borough Council said: “There really was something for everyone at our first Taste Cumbria festival of the year and we can’t wait to do it all again in Maryport in August and Cockermouth in September and December.

“Thanks to everyone who visited us, and to our sponsors and supporters – Wigton Town Council, Futamura, NADT and Free4All Community Recycling. It was such a great day!”
