A theatre company, that has not been able to perform together for a number of years, has announced it has one performance in the future of a play by a local writer.
The small Carlisle-based theatre group Happy Hour Theatre Company has been around since 2008, but after not being able to perform together since 2019, the company has recently done a run of five performances of a play written by the local playwright, Ben Brinicombe, called 'Women's Troubles'.
These performances have been at Harraby Theatre, in Carlisle, Longtown Community Centre, RFT Hall, Hightae, Theatre Royal in Workington, and the Buccleuch Centre in Langholm.
There is one performance left of this run, which will be performed at The Pheasant Inn in the small village of Cumwhitton on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
The play, Women's Troubles, has been described as a comedy about three women and their work, home life, and relationships.
The play moves in four acts, from the aftermath of a party, a cafe, a laser quest game, and the office.
According to one audience member, the play stays within the mainstream of acceptable comedy, a bit more Gavin and Stacey than Fleabag or Jam, and pulls regular laughs from the audience.
