MARATHON Man Gary Mckee completed his 106th marathon this weekend- being joined by the Mayor of Keswick who arrived on the day in style.
The Cleator Moor athlete is continuing to run as part of his aim to run 365 marathons in 365 days to raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria and Macmillan Cancer Support.
In this week's diary entry, Gary said: "The start of week 16 saw me saw me swap the cycle path for Fitz Park in Keswick and the newly developed Threlkeld path. It was a nice change with different faces and scenery and it was also financially rewarding.
"I watched as the Mayor arrived in Fitz Park as part of a tandem paraglide. Rather him than me and I think I’ll stick to running.
"I’ve got a busy few days ahead with a podcast on Wednesday and Thursday will be day 111 so new territory sort of speak. By the end of the week I’ll have ran over 3000 miles since I started in January.
"Friday will see the pupils of St. Joseph’s school Frizington join me for a few miles on the cycle path and I think it’s great when kids get involved and understand how exercise can be fun as well as being beneficial.
"As the weather is improving more people are starting to use the cycle path and the C2C season has begun so it’s common to see lots of bikes going past in big numbers.
"There’s lots of things going on with people organising their own events to raise awareness and funds of what I’m doing so big thanks to everyone.
"And if you see me out on the cycle path, throw me a smile- a smile can change the day."
