HERE are our Pets of the Week, courtesy of Oak Tree Animals’ Charity.

SHADOW
Shadow is looking for a quiet home with a sofa big enough for him to share with his new owners. This big lad is a real softy and loves being around people so will need an owner who is around most of the time.

News and Star: HUNK: The dog ShadowHUNK: The dog Shadow

Unfortunately, Shadow doesn't get along with other dogs and has previously been attacked by a cat so he must be the only pet in the home.

We are looking for a home with a decent-sized secure garden so Shadow has somewhere safe to exercise off lead.

Being an older guy, Shadow prefers a quiet life and, therefore, would like a home with adults or children aged 11+ years.

Do you have room on your sofa for this loveable hunk?

TOBY
Toby is a handsome young cat who is looking for an owner to build up his confidence.

We do not have much information on Toby as he was found abandoned in a home. We estimate him to be around 7 months old. He is friendly and likes a stroke but is very shy.

News and Star: SENSITIVE: Toby the catSENSITIVE: Toby the cat

We possibly think he may have been an indoor-only cat as he is noise sensitive and will hide at the slightest sound. As he is young, we would love to give him the opportunity to explore the outside when he is ready and, therefore, we are looking for a home away from busy roads and in a quiet area.

He could possibly live with older, sensible children who are cat-savvy. As he is lacking in confidence, someone around for part of the day would be ideal.

We think Toby could have cat flu so, as a precaution, we will not be rehoming him with other cats. Cat flu is very common in cats and is similar to the human cold. It generally crops up during times of stress.

If annually vaccinated and symptoms kept on top of, cats can lead normal lives.
