THE PRESTIGIOUS Golden Apple Awards 2022 have been launched to celebrate the best of education in Cumbria this year.

This years awards ceremony in association with The University of Cumbria takes place at Energus, Workington on Thursday, October 13 2022.

The special evening is a chance to toast those who are top of the class and rewards excellence in education and learning in all of its forms

The coveted awards ceremony recognises talent, resilience and achievements of the education sector and its inspiring people. 

The awards builds on the popularity and success of recent years which every year celebrates unsung heroes from all corners of Cumbria's education community. 

Once again The Golden Apple Awards are presented by Newsquest Cumbria – publishers of the News & Star, The Mail, The Cumberland News, The Westmorland Gazette, The Whitehaven News and The Times and Star.

Once again the awards have been launched in association with University of Cumbria -  a lead player in delivering top quality, professional higher-level learning.

 

The University specialises in meeting the demands of an evolving workforce and emerging markets and is known for its practice-based focus.

Professor Rob Trimble, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Cumbria (pictured), explained: “I’m delighted that the University of Cumbria is continuing its role as the associate partner for Cumbria’s Golden Apple Awards.

"These annual awards recognise and reward the excellent talents, efforts and achievements demonstrated by so many each day in Cumbria.

"They also celebrate the great partnerships, practices and people from across all forms of learning - from the early years, schools and colleges, higher education, and vocational provision like apprenticeships, to lifelong learning and those who make valuable community contributions.

He added: “It is an opportunity to celebrate those who change the lives and livelihoods through learning, the 2022 Golden Apples will recognise the transformational power that education has, not only for individuals but also those education and employer organisations and local communities that we’re all part of.

He went on to say: “As Cumbria’s university, we work across all levels of education through our partnerships with others – with educators, businesses, employers and many more – helping to increase higher-level skills across our region through our flexible and progressive higher education programmes to a diverse student body that’s currently around 14,000 students."
