ONE WIGTON school has had a very busy few weeks.

St Cuthbert’s first has an inspection from the Lancaster Diocese and were judged as outstanding in all areas. The full report can be found on the school website and includes:

 'St Cuthbert’s is an outstanding Catholic school that demonstrates rapid improvement. It is a very welcoming, creative and inclusive learning environment; pupils enjoy attending and they have positive attitudes to learning. One Year 6 pupil described the school as a place where ‘We learn how to be compassionate to others and we respect people’.

The outdoor area at school has recently had a revamp and is now called St. Cuthbert's Corner.

The area is a now a place for children to explore and play. A perfect outdoor classroom. The outdoor area has a fire pit, a seating area, a digging pit, a mud kitchen with a water handpump, a wigaloo (a perfect place to read and relax) and some high raise planting beds.

The school’s council organised a cake sale and a raffle to support the humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine. The event was a massive success and the children raised £235. The children were also invited to dress in blue and yellow for the day and parents and carers were asked to write a messages of hope and peace.

Some of our pupils have also been volunteering at the local food pantry. Using ingredients from the food pantry, the pupils made three types of homemade soup and served this with bread and some delicious homemade cakes.
