General manager Molly Dingwall is leaving Carlisle Racecourse.

She is taking up a new position as general manager of Haydock Park.

It brings an end to Dingwall's four years in charge at Carlisle, with the Jockey Club confirming the process of recruiting a new manager at the Durdar course will start "immediately".

She took charge at Carlisle in 2018 as one of the youngest racecourse managers in the country.

She went on to play a leading role in the development of the Carlisle track, overseeing a number of initiatives and a broad range of racedays.

Dingwall said: “I’ve had a fabulous four years at Carlisle and will forever be grateful to the team here and across the Jockey Club for the support they’ve shown me in my first permanent general manager role.

“I’m now absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity at Haydock Park, a racecourse which stages Group One and Grade One racing on the Flat and over Jumps.

“I’ve been passionate about putting Carlisle right at the heart of the local community and I’m really excited to have the chance to do the same at another racecourse with such a rich history and engaged fanbase.”

After working for Perth Racecourse, Dingwall joined the Jockey Club as a business development executive in 2015, going on to be appointed group trainee general manager the following year.

Her tenure at Carlisle has helped strengthen ties between the racecourse and the community, while higlights have included the unique Ladies Night fixture each August, at which every jockey in every race is female.

She was also in charge of the racecourse's efforts to deal with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, while she has overseen an increase in ticket and hospitality sales during her time at Durdar.

She will take charge at Haydock in Merseyside the coming weeks, and Dickon White, North West Regional Director at the Jockey Club, added: “In the four years that Molly has been general manager at Carlisle she’s done a fantastic job, particularly during the recent period of managing a racecourse through the challenges of a pandemic.

“Anyone who has met Molly will know the energy, enthusiasm and passion she has for horseracing and I’m really looking forward to her taking over at Haydock Park, which has a catchment area full of really knowledgeable sports fans and loyal racegoers.

“Running a dual Flat and Jumps track provides extra challenges and Molly’s experience of this at Carlisle will prove invaluable as she takes on her new role.”
