ONE of the UK’s most popular fine artists has used her love of the Lake District as inspiration for her latest collection.

Lucy Pittaway, who has four galleries in Keswick, has released her latest range of works that bring new light and love to familiar views of the Lakes.

Capturing celebrated views over Derwentwater, Ambleside and Ullswater, Lucy has brought her personal touch, and her famed sheep, to the landscape.

She said: “I have always been in love with the Lake District. It holds a very special place in my heart as it’s where many of my family originate from. I’ve also been spending more and more time there with my own family over the last few years.

"While it has always been a special place for me, as my family has roots there, the pandemic brought a new appreciation for sharing open landscapes and adventures with my children.

“There’s just something about those mountains, glorious Lakes and the fresh air that lifts my spirits and makes me feel lighter somehow and there’s nothing like being on the Lake on a sunny day or reaching the top of one of the peaks and soaking in the views beneath me.

"I wanted to paint a collection that spans all seasons and showcases its woolly inhabitants as well as the people and their pets that frequent this magnificent part of our country."

Included in the collection are On Top of the World, which shows a sheep and lamb looking over the vast valley with snow-capped mountain tops in the distance and is inspired by my husband and son’s appetite for mountain climbing. Our First Adventure captures the joy in making new memories. A solo sheep stands content and cushioned in heather in Herdy Soul, perfectly showcasing the sentiment and charm embodied in Lucy’s sheep.

She continued: “As an artist, it is my job to share the things in life that bring me happiness and to impart this to others through my work. The Lake District is full of memories made by people all over the world and this collection is a celebration of that in a colourful, playful way.”
