CUMBRIAN hotel and pub, the Kings Head, in Ravenstonedale, Kirkby Stephen, has been given a ‘zero out of five rating’ by the Food Standards Agency.

The inspection was carried out on January 12 2022.

The food safety officer found that there was:

  • improvement necessary in hygienic food handling, including the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food
  • improvement necessary in the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control
  • and urgent improvement necessary in the management of food safety, including systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and that the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future

The ‘zero rating’ means that the bar/restaurant gets an overall ‘Urgent Improvement Necessary.’

A statement on the Kings Head website indicates that the establishment has been carrying out an enhanced cleansing and sanitising regime in relation to Covid.
