FOLLOWING the first look at the redevelopments to the new leisure centre at The Sands Centre, we decided to take a trip down memory lane to see what the Centre was used for, and how it has benefitted the community.
The redevelopments which were shown to us yesterday show an under-construction swimming pool, as well as a children's learner pool, which is all set to be completed in October this year, along with a sports hall, physiotherapy suites for the NHS to operate in, as well as a new bar and cafe area.
The Sands Centre has been and still is a cultural institution in Carlisle, with it being the main stop for many national and international touring acts, musically, and theatrically, and is now on its way to being an overall leisure centre.
