A COASTGUARD has warned of a third storm set to hit Cumbria.

Storm Franklin follows in the wake of Storm Dudley and Eunice this week and is expected to hit the North of England on Sunday.

Millom Coastguard Rescue Team warned: “The next storm, named 'Franklin' is due to hit us on Sunday. No more details as yet.”

There is a yellow weather warning for wind in place from 12pm on Sunday to 12pm on Monday.

Very strong winds are expected across parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland and also some Irish Sea coasts, according to the Met Office.

What to expect:

  • There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs
  • There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
  • There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected.

There is also a yellow weather warning for rain in place from midnight on Sunday to 6pm on Sunday.

Heavy rain is expected to lead to some disruption on Sunday, according to the Met Office.

What to expect:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
