Former Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce was among the observers at Carlisle United's game at Salford City on Tuesday night.

The recently-axed Toon boss sat with a string of fellow former Manchester United stars to watch the League Two fixture at the Peninsula Stadium.

Bruce was joined by Roy Keane as the home side beat the Cumbrians 2-1.

And Salford co-owners Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs were also in attendance.

Bruce took in the game at a time he is between jobs following his sacking at Newcastle last October.

The 61-year-old was replaced at the St James' Park helm by Eddie Howe.

Keane, meanwhile, is a regular attender at Salford's ground.

He also watched the Carlisle game at the stadium last season.

United's travelling fans taunted Red Devils legend Scholes with songs, but the Class of 92 legend saw his team, managed by Gary Bowyer, come out on top.

Scholes is a co-owner of Salford along with Giggs, Gary and Phil Neville, David Beckham, Nicky Butt and Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.
