A BRAND new tanning salon, Northern Sun, is due to open on London Road in Carlisle.
Planning permission were submitted on October 8, 2021, and the once-Subway is now a stylish tanning salon which had its grand opening on Monday, January 24, 2022.
As a former subway which is now a premium tanning salon, it took around eight months of intense renovations from completely gutting the place out and installing and using top specification MegaSun UV tanning equipment to get it looking professional and client-ready.
James Wall, director, said: "I worked as a Retail Manager in Asda for 15 years in Carlisle and Newcastle, then after lockdown, I decided that I wanted to get into UV tanning business with it being so popular around here and because I’m a tan-fan myself.
"I just thought now its as a good a time as any."
He added: "In a year’s time - I would like to be thriving with a nice, regular client base and I would like to installing an automatic spray booth in, to add other treatments for my customers.
"We’ve only been open one day and there’s already people coming in and out, I’m looking forward to the future."
There are opening offers for the first two weeks, on premium beds brought in from Germany.
