The number of coronavirus cases in Carlisle increased by 189 in the last 24 hours and one more death was recorded.

A total of 25,798 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Carlisle when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on January 21st.

A spokesperson said: "The rate of infection in Carlisle now stands at 23,772 cases per 100,000 people, higher than the England average of 23,592.

"Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 95,776 over the period, to 15,709,059.

"There was also one more coronavirus death recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Carlisle.

"The dashboard shows 354 people had died in the area by January 21st up from 353 on Thursday."

The figures also show that more than four in five people in Carlisle have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The latest figures show 80,881 people had received both jabs by January 20st, and 82% of those aged 12 and over.
