Carlisle couple Dale Addison and Aimée Lindsay finally got to have their special Christmas wedding day at Matfen Hall in Northumberland on December 27 after having had to delay it for a year due to Covid.

Dental nurse Aimée said: “It was perfect and we’re so grateful to have shared the day with our family and friends.”

Having met at a friend’s barbecue back in 2011, they got engaged in September, 2019, in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Dale chose Aimée’s engagement ring with his mum and dad in Newcastle, which is a memory he cherishes.

Welder Dale’s stag celebrations were held in Leeds while Aimée celebrated in Belfast with life drawing, party bike riding and lots of baby Guinness drinking.

The Christmas wedding had a hint of Gatsby style and the invitations by Helen Thomson reflected this. Aimée’s dress was by Morilee and was the first dress she tried on and was made perfect by Rebecca from Bits and Bobbins. It was worn with a veil from Eden Wedding Boutique and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Dan Nicholson was best man with Dougie Lindsay, Baz Davidson, Scott Davidson and Dave Sanko as ushers and Douglas Lindsay, Sam Holliday, Thomas Lindsay and Sonny Smith, all nephews, as pageboys.

Aimée’s sister, Emma Lindsay, was her maid of honour, with Dale’s sister, Vicki Holliday, as her bridesmaid wearing full length sequin bridesmaid dresses. The couple’s nieces, Mila and Sadie Holliday, were flower girls and wore dresses and fur capes from Monsoon.

Flowers were by The Enchanted Florist, Durham, with bouquets and arrangements of rich green foliage and cream flowers and roses. Sadie, the youngest flower girl, carried a princess wand designed by Julie from the florists.

Transport was supplied by Cumbria Coaches. Aimée said “Like all our suppliers these were our originals from 2020 and were a delight to deal with even in the toughest of situations.”

90 guests attended the wedding and reception and after the ceremony they were entertained by magician Paul Lytton while they enjoyed their canapés and celebratory fizz. Aimée had a surprise planned at the reception not only for the guests but also the groom — singing waitresses, the Serenading Servers, which were a highlight for everyone.

A sax player provided music in the great hall as the 60 evening guests arrived. Dale and Aimée had their first dance which was Praise You, by Fat Boy Slim and then guests headed downstairs to the nightclub.

The table plan was made by Holly of Rockin’ Wonderland Events, a good friend of the bride, with tables were named after favourite places in California

In lieu of favours, the couple made charity donations to two charities close to their hearts and in honour of their dads. These were The Stroke Association and The Brain Tumour Charity. Dale’s dad sadly passed away in July, 2020, and the couple tried to honour his memory throughout the day and Dale used his dad’s wedding ring for the ceremony. Aimée’s wedding band was by Cartier.

The wedding cake was by Crystal Tips and was three tiers of Red Velvet; gin, rhubarb and ginger and finally lemon. The couple have a minimoon in New York booked for the New Year and are still deciding about honeymoon options.

Aimée is the daughter of Julie Gray and Doug Lindsay and Dale is the son of Sandra and the late Barry Addison.

Emma Stoszowski captured the day in beautiful photographs with a video by CPD film including a drone.
