A TEENAGER from Cockermouth has been left with fines and costs totalling almost £900 after he was convicted of driving in a way not allowed by his licence.
Owen Peter William Harrison, 18, of Thirlmere Avenue, denied the offence but was convicted after a trial before magistrates in Workington.
Court records show that he was illegally driving a car on Isel Road on June 6 - because at the time he was carrying a passenger. Magistrates imposed a £220 fine and £620 prosecution costs.
He must also pay a £34 victim surcharge. The defendant's driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points. The defendant was not legally represented at this trial, court records show.
Court records do no confirm what kind of licence the defendant has but all learner drivers must be supervised by driver who has had a full driving licence for at least three years.
