Anyone looking for a challenge with a scenic backdrop of the Lake District can now sign-up to an action-packed event, supporting those with "life-limiting illnesses" in the process.

The Bikes Boats Boots event, organised by Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s children’s hospice, provides an exhilarating adventure along the shores of Ullswater, surrounded by the stunning Lake District peaks.

The charity challenge, taking place on 21 May, will consist of a 30 mile cycle, followed by a canoe trip for two miles along Ullswater Lake, only to finish the day off with an 6 mile hike up the third highest peak in England, Helvellyn.News and Star: Grins all round the cycle challenge. Participants will work as a team of four fundraisers, with team entries being encouraged, or you have the option to sign-up individually or in smaller groups and will be partnered up on the day.

The event will be run with the help and support of The Adventure Element.

Jonny Irving, Marketing & Engagement Manager at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, said: “Bikes Boats Boots promises to be a great event which will not only provide people with the opportunity to challenge themselves, but also help provide vital support for local adults and children with life-limiting illnesses.

“Everyone who signs up or sponsors someone taking part will be playing a really important part in helping us raise the more than £3 million we need each year to continue offering our expert and dedicated care.”

No canoe experience will be necessary however, it's been advised the fitter you are, the more fun you will have on the day.

Registration fee will be that of £50 with a minimum donation amount set for £375.
