A BRAMPTON motorist has been given a 20-month ban for failing to give police a breath specimen when asked to.

At Carlisle's Rickergate court, Hassan Hyrash, 34, of Union Lane, Brampton, pleaded guilty the offence. It happened in Brampton on Boxing Day last year. Magistrate also imposed a community order which will include 80 hours of unpaid work in the community.

In addition, Hyrash must pay £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

The length of the ban will be reduced by 20 weeks if the defendant completes a drink driver rehabilitation course by an agreed deadline.
