A CARLISLE band have performed their headline gig at a popular venue this week.

Hardwicke Circus performed an annual concert at The Brickyard on Friday, December 17. This marked the official end of their national tour and they have said they were delighted with the response from fans.

We spoke to the band's manager Dave Robinson to hear his thoughts on what was a special day for the band.

Mr Robinson said: "It was great, we had a really great evening and all the fans turned out so we had a really good time. I think it went fantastic it was a very big party, around 340 people attended which is full capacity for The Brickyard."

One very special moment of the gig came when a brass band came to perform alongside Hardwicke Circus towards the end of the concert.

As it is almost Christmas, they performed a cover of the popular festive song Stop The Cavalry by Jona Lewie.

They were supported by indie rock band Flint.

They have been running these gigs annually at The Brickyard for a number of years but the 2020 concert had to be cancelled due to Covid.

Dave explained that they were delighted to be back performing in their hometown and it was very special as their fans seemed to know every word.

The show opened with one of their old popular tracks 'Nowhere Left To Run' which appears on the band's album. At the end of the set they played two encores as the fans kept cheering for more. They closed the show with a cover of Dirty Old Town by The Pogues.

Mr Robinson added: "We are currently looking for an agent to help us expand our gigging circuit across the north west and Scotland. We've played a lot in Cumbria and the south but we would like to become more popular across the northern region."
