A former DJ in Workington has organised another fundraiser to help out families and children this Christmas time.

Leigh Beach has held numerous 'old skool' club music events called Madison's on Facebook, the name comes from a former nightclub.

So far, since the start of lockdown, they have raised over £3,500 for various charities and have held another event this week, raising over £1,000.

Mr Beach said: "We held 'old skool' music events in night clubs and because of lockdown one of our gigs in Electric Soup got cancelled. So we did a festival online for charity during the first lockdown and since then we've just kept on doing it. Our last event was on Saturday December 11th and helped to raise money for Cumbria Family Support. This helps those in the county who may be less fortunate to get treats over the Christmas period."

The events have proved very popular with music lovers and one of he live streams had over 100,000 people tuning in to listen.

DJs from across the north of England have joined in and got involved, some of the artists included: Stu Wright and Shaun Mandale.

Since starting Leigh and his fellow DJs have raised money for many other charities like Hospice at Home and Diabetes UK.

Cumbria Family Support got in touch with Leigh to thank him for his support. Here's what they said: "Thank you so much you amazing people. We're hosting a joint Carlisle and Allerdale party for the children of our supported families in Carlisle. We've been struggling to get transport sorted for our Allerdale and Workington families.

"The amount you have raised is not only going to go towards the gifts and food for our families, but we will be able to provide transport and food for our Allerdale children. This will make sure that they can come to our party. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
