A FIFTY-one-year-old Carlisle man who assaulted a doctor and a nurse has been given unpaid work and told to pay his two victims compensation.

At the city's Rickergate court, Leszek Kozak, of Ridgemount Road, pleaded guilty to the two allegations of assaulting an emergency worker while they were at work.

The assaults by beating happened on consecutive days, the court heard. The first - against a nurse - was on July 14 in Carlisle. The defendant assaulted a doctor the following day.

After hearing the details, magistrates imposed a community order which includes a requirement to complete 80 hours of unpaid work in the community. He must pay compensation of £100 to the doctor and £50 to the nurse.

The defendant was also told to pay £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.Both attacks was classed as common assaults by beating.
