STAR

Star is looking for a very special home, one where she can shine! She’s a very affectionate and happy girl who loves life and investigating everything in it.

Star is completely deaf so needs a new family to understand about her training needs and that they are different to a dog who can hear. She is a great student and loves to learn. Staff have been teaching her visual cues and are making good progress. All of Star’s training is through positive reinforcement; applicants will need to be familiar with this approach before applying. Ongoing support is available.

Star will need a home with a securely enclosed, good-sized garden where she can relax and continue her learning. She is sensitive to traffic movement and we would not look to rehome her in a built-up area, or one with lots of passing traffic. Her new family will need to be prepared to walk her in quieter locations, at least in the short term; areas without lots of traffic, people and dogs so she can concentrate on learning.

She can live with older children who will be able to give her visual cues and understand that her needs are different to some other dogs’. Star will need a lot of time and effort put into her training as she is starting from scratch. She’s only around 9 months old. Therefore, someone around most of the time would be ideal. She’s a typically active Collie cross and will need both physical and mental stimulation to prevent frustration and boredom.

Star could possibly live with an older, calm and fully trained dog. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

If you think you could offer beautiful Star her perfect home, please email smallanimalteam@oaktreeanimals.org.uk.

JODIE

Jodie is a gorgeous girl who loves getting all the attention. She might be 11 years old but she is still young at heart!

If Jodie’s not at home getting a fuss off her humans, then you will probably find her out and about exploring — she might even bring a present or two home!

In Jodie’s last home, she lived near a quiet road so will need a home not too close to a main road.

She will need to be the only pet in the house as she has never been around other animals before and prefers her own space.

Jodie hasn’t lived with children, but has been around them, so we are looking for a home with older children who understand that Jodie sometimes needs time to herself.

If you can give this little explorer a home, or for further details, please contact smallanimalteam@oaktreeanimals.org.uk.
