A council has approved recommendations to award grants totalling £14,000 to community projects in the district.
As part of Eden District Council's Community Fund Partnership Panel's recommendation, approved by the council's cabinet, Armathwaite Old School Hall is set to receive £10,000 towards the £33,600 costs of its Phase 2 refurbishment.
Wetheriggs United Football Club has also benefited, having been granted £4,000 towards the £9,780 cost of refurbishing kitchen facilities.
The Community Fund is Eden District Council’s community grant scheme and was established in 2013/2014 to support and develop community initiatives within Eden District.
The partnership panel, which is chaired by Communities Portfolio Holder, Cllr. Lissie Sharp, includes representatives from Action with Communities in Cumbria, Penrith Action for Community Transition as well as individual community representatives.
Of the three applications considered, Armathwaite Old School Hall and Wetheriggs United Football Club were recommended to receive the full amount requested.
The third application was deferred to the next funding round as the panel requested more information before committing to part-fund the project.
The deadline for the next round of funding is 7 January 2022.
