THE weekend is coming up fast!
Here are some ideas of things to do in and around Allerdale:
1) Cockermouth Beer Festival, Thursday 25th – Saturday 27th
The volunteer-run event returns this weekend. Over 60 real ales will be on offer throughout the event, with live music, pub quizzes and souvenir glasses available.
2) Michael Bisping at Electric Soup, Friday 26th
The UFC legend will be swapping pads for decks on Friday night as he performs a DJ set in Workington. The Clitheroe-raised athlete will be playing a variety of House classics.
3) Encanto, The Ritz Cinema, from Friday 26th
The Workington-based cinema will play the brand-new release from Disney this weekend. The new tale follows a young Colombian girl who is the only member of her family without magical powers.
4) Murder, Margaret and Me, Papcastle and Brigham, Friday 26th & Saturday 27th
The Cockermouth Amateur Dramatic Society perform the play, focusing on the unlikely friendship between Agatha Christie and Margaret Rutherford, at the Papcastle Village Hall and Brigham Village Hall on Friday and Saturday respectively.
5) Workington AFC v Prescot Cables, Borough Park, Saturday 27th
Chris Willcock’s side are on a two-match winning streak and will be hoping for another three points against their Merseyside opponents to close the gap on league leaders Marine.
6) Maggie Burnell Art Exhibition, The Gather Café and Shop, until November 30
Arlecdon artist Maggie Burnell spent lockdown designing acrylic paintings of landscapes and mountains from the Lake District. All profits from the exhibition will go to the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue.
7) Santa’s Lost His Marbles, Lakes Escapes
The escape room company have launched a brand-new game, where groups have to help Santa find his lost marbles and magic dust that help his sled fly within an hour.
8) Keswick Ghost Walk, Moot Hall, Saturday 27th
Follow ‘The Lady’ as she provides an intriguing tale on the town’s history full of murder, intrigue and tortured souls.
9) Breakfast with Father Christmas, Booth’s, Sunday 28th
Father Christmas will visit Keswick to have breakfast in Booth’s café! Children will receive something to eat and drink, as well as a small gift from Father Christmas for being so good this year.
10) The Puzzling Place
Prepare to be amazed as the Keswick attraction takes you on a fascinating and fun excursion into the wonderful world of optical illusion, which will leave you quite literally, not believing your eyes!
