READERS have been reacting after the killer of Sarah Everard appealed his whole life sentence.

The police officer who murdered Sarah lodged an appeal to reduce the length of his jail sentence.

Former Sellafield police officer Wayne Couzens was handed a whole-life tariff in September after kidnapping, raping and murdering the 33-year-old.

News & Star readers took to the publication's Facebook page to voice their opinions.

Rod Noble said: "How can a solicitor appeal against the conviction for a monster like that unless it’s only to make a lot more money, our laws are a complete joke and solicitors like him should be held to account."

Fiona Sowerby said: "He needs to man up and accept his whole life term after what he did to Sarah. He deserves to rot in my opinion."

Frank Cunningham said: "He should rot in prison.

"There should be more life sentences handed out in cases like this or even better introduce the death penalty again."

Deborah Dixon agreed: "They need to bring back the death penalty in this country."

Diane Black-Ware said: "Unreal!! This country is a joke!!"

Michael Leeson added: "Save money get the electric chair he shouldn't be breathing air."

Anthony Stevenson said: "Our judicial system is not fit for purpose. All murderers who are 100 per cent guilty should serve life."
