A park has won, again, a prestigious award.

Silloth Green has yet again won a Green Flag Award.

The Green Flag Award is an accreditation given to publicly accessible parks and open spaces in order to promote standards of good management and best-practice amongst the green space sector.

It is described by its issuers, Keep Britain Tidy as an "internationally recognised award that is a benchmark for well-managed green space".

Friends of Silloth Green spoke of the award: "Well done to our grounds maintenance team and the Friends of Silloth Green volunteers for getting all the winter bedding in this week.

"They all work hard to keep the Green looking amazing and worthy of our ninth Green Flag Award."

Emanuel Flecken, the Green Flag judge for 2021, concluded in his report: "All of those involved in this coastal park should be really proud of yourselves of what you have achieved so far and I am sure we will be seeing more of you in the future as an example of what communities can bring to the open spaces sector.

"Well deserved Green Flag status."
