WEST Cumbria Independents leader Paul Scott has called for a working group to allow GP's and patients to find a way through recent issues.

There have been major issues in the area relating to GP's facing abuse from patients and patients being left frustrated with the inability to see their GP's for face to face appointments.

Councillor Scott said: "Understanding both sides of the problem is key to solving ongoing issues, having volunteered within the surgeries I know how hard people are working for the good of their community.

"I'm sure many of you know I, like many others, have been lucky enough to volunteer at our GP surgeries helping deliver the Covid-19 vaccinations and Flu vaccinations. It's been a honour to work alongside some fantastic people that have gone the extra mile to ensure a successful roll out across the town, Borough and County. The roll out in Workington went at a fast pace and got us to where we are now, our economy is opening up and life is getting back to some kind of normality.

"As you know our doctors have merged to safeguard the future of GP's in Workington, they operate on a not for profit basis which means IF there is any profit its automatically reinvested into patient care. The Covid-19 situation while still very much present is now easing due to vaccinations breaking the link to death, we know there are issues though."

"If you're interested in being positive, proactive and help solve problems please email me paul.scott@allerdale.gov.uk."
